BIOTIP – a standard device with the capacity of 50 to 3500 PE (population equivalent) and up to max of 10,500 PE (installation of 3 BIOTIP devices). It is intended for a complete biological treatment of wastewater from small urban settlements, hotels, resorts, military barracks, camps, schools, food industry facilities, etc.

SPECIFICITY OF BIOTIP
The specificity of this device is its installation without the primary clarifier and the disposal of primary sludge.
BIOTIP is a standard device for biological wastewater treatment of sanitary sewage wastewater in smaller settlements and individual buildings. It is a circular aeration basin containing a secondary clarifier with an inlet cross section, air lift pump, aerators and vent system, and it is covered with open mesh grating leaned on bearing bars. Compressed air is used to activate the device and it is supplied with the help of low pressure compressors located in a separate room together with the controlling cabinet for sewage treatment equipment. Fresh wastewater enters the aeration basin with the help of gravity or pumps. Compressed air is blown into the wastewater through the membrane aerators which create small bubbles. Fresh wastewater is thus mixed with fine air bubbles, and the oxygen from the air is dissolved in the water. Activated sludge consisting of microorganisms (bacteria, algae, protozoa) is periodically transferred from the secondary clarifier into the aeration basin with the help of the air lift pump. Microorganisms need food and oxygen to survive and they take the food from wastewater (organic matter) and thus purify it, whereas they get the oxygen form the air blown into the water.
Such mixture (wastewater, air bubbles and microorganisms) flows into the secondary clarifier where activated sludge is separated from the purified water which goes into the overflow section. After that activated sludge returns to the aeration basin and the process is continuously renewed.
Such clarified and purified water flows into the recipient. After some time some microorganisms die, thus creating a biomass whose concentration increases in wastewater. However, the biomass further oxidises and mineralises (extended aeration) and the process leads to the phase of endogenous respiration. This way the amount of excess sludge is reduced and the need to extract it is extended to a longer period of time (once every six months to two years).
BIOTIP is installed as a circular underground basin covered with mesh grating. It is located in the direction of the sewerage when it is not necessary to install the pumping station. The device does not contain moving parts (the blower and the electrical cabinet are located in a separate room). This is the reason why the durability of the device is unlimited, and all materials are resistant to aggressive media.
The degree of treatment is more than 95% of the degradation of organic matter, and upon request, the process of removing nitrogen and phosphorus can also be carried out.
The operation of the device is fully automated and operating and maintenance costs are minimal.
The effluent water has less than 25 mg (BOD5)/l, which represents the degree of treatment greater than 95% of the degradation of the organic matter. Such result is achieved by dimensioning the aeration basin to a volume load less than 0.2 kg (BOD5)/m3,d, retaining water in the secondary clarifier for more than four hours and introducing oxygen of at least 3.0 kg O2/kg (BOD5). Such effluent water meets all requirements to be discharged into the natural recipient of category II.
